On Wednesday 7 May, Walton Academy hosted its key stage 3 recognition of achievement evening, a celebration of the outstanding achievements, dedication, and personal growth of our year 7, 8, and 9 students. Held in the academy’s main hall, the evening brought together students, staff, and families to recognise excellence both in and beyond the classroom.
The event began with an uplifting musical performance, showcasing the incredible talent of our students and setting the tone for an evening of pride and celebration. Principal, Jess Leonard, welcomed guests with an opening address, highlighting Walton’s core values of readiness, respect, and responsibility, and acknowledging the continued support of families and staff in helping our students thrive.
Throughout the evening, 13 award categories were presented, recognising students from each year group for their achievements across a wide range of subjects and aspects of academy life.
The awards celebrated students who exemplify Walton’s values through their commitment, resilience, and contributions inside and outside the classroom. Among them were students who consistently demonstrate focus, determination, and the drive to be the best version of themselves – true role models within our community. Academic excellence was recognised through faculty awards, with each department selecting one student per year group to commend their hard work, progress, and passion for learning across subjects including English, maths, science, PE, performing arts, humanities, modern foreign languages, and visual arts and design technology.
Other awards highlighted courage and character, honouring students who have shown remarkable resilience, whether overcoming personal challenges or stepping outside their comfort zones. Equally celebrated were those who have enriched academy life through leadership, mentoring, and active involvement in extra-curricular clubs and events, going above and beyond to support the wider Walton community.
After a short interval and a second musical performance, the evening concluded with the prestigious high flyer awards, recognising students on track to achieve some of the highest grades in their year. These individuals have shown exceptional dedication to their studies and reflect the power of aspiration, perseverance, and focused effort.
Congratulations to all our award recipients. Your achievements, character, and commitment continue to make Walton Academy a place of excellence and inspiration. We are proud of every one of you and look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish in the years ahead.
