At Walton we have a tradition of offering high quality opportunities and activities beyond curriculum time. These activities are an important and exciting feature of academy life and contribute enormously to our students’ social and academic development. We believe all our students should experience success in some aspect of academy life.
There is an extensive menu of extra-curricular activities on offer including exceptional arts and sporting provision with opportunities to take part in workshops and field trips. We also offer students the chance to experience different cultures and experiences through our range of national and international trips and visits, to educational venues linked to curricular areas.
Our clubs cover a diverse range of activities including dance, musical theatre, maths problem-solving, board games, table tennis, badminton, writing, photography, the academy orchestra and much more.

Life skills days
We run life skills days each term, which are linked to PSHE and our careers provision. During these days, students have the opportunity to hear from visiting speakers, external providers and to meet prospective employers, such as the armed forces, the police force and the NHS, to find out about future career pathways.
Walton is a member of the PiXL network, a growing partnership of schools including around 1,500 secondaries across the country. As part of PiXL, our students work towards developing leadership, communication and networking skills to supplement and enhance their studies. PiXL is concerned with offering opportunities for all students to make progress in life on the basis of achieving good results and, through the PiXL Edge programme, by developing key life attributes.
