We believe strongly in young people developing their independent learning and thinking skills. Homework is a key element of this development.

Homework procedures

Homework is a key tool in students’ learning, providing a link between the work in the classroom and home. It gives an opportunity for students to extend and consolidate their understanding of skills and concepts taught in the classroom. Homework should be a benefit and not a trial. It should help students to adopt good study habits which will help them throughout life.

It is an expectation that students will catch up on missed homework as a result of absence.

Teachers set the most appropriate homework for their students, however, they will also set core homework tasks in accordance with their faculty procedures.

Parents and students can view the homework timetables here.

Learning Resources Centre

Walton houses a Learning Resources Centre (LRC) which stocks hundreds of books, as well as a suite of computers to assist independent learning.  Students can loan books from the LRC and use the facility during breaks and after school.
