Academy uniform
We are committed to fostering a culture of high expectation, equity and pride at Walton Academy. We believe that school uniform supports a sense of belonging and identity and contributes to a positive learning environment.
Our approach follows Department for Education guidance and is designed to ensure that our uniform remains smart, practical and affordable for families.
We respect religious, cultural, medical and disability-related needs, and reasonable adjustments will always be considered.
We value the support of parents and carers in ensuring that students arrive at the academy appropriately dressed and ready to learn each day.
Uniform requirements (September 2026)
The following uniform requirements apply to students at Walton Academy.
Compulsory academy uniform
Students must wear:
- Walton blazer with the academy logo. The year-group flash badge, provided by the academy, must be sewn onto the blazer.
- Walton green shirt. Students may choose from either of the following styles:
- Walton green open-neck shirt with half sleeves, worn without a tie; or
- Walton green long or short-sleeved collared shirt, which must be worn with a Walton tie.
- Walton striped tie – required when the collared shirt is worn.
- Plain navy tailored trousers. These do not need to be purchased from an academy uniform supplier and may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet the academy’s uniform requirements.
- Plain black hard-wearing school shoes. Shoes must be flat-soled or low-heeled, suitable for use around the academy site and provide appropriate protection in science laboratories and workshops. Trainers, boots and plimsolls are not permitted.
- Plain navy or black socks, or plain natural, black or navy tights.
- Hair accessories, if worn, should be navy, black, dark green or a natural hair colour.
The academy blazer, Walton green shirts, and tie are Walton-specific uniform items and are available from our approved uniform suppliers.
Optional academy uniform
The following items are optional:
- Walton skirt – students may choose to wear the approved Walton skirt instead of plain navy tailored trousers. The skirt is available in two lengths and is designed to be worn at least 10cm below the knee. It is available from Walton Academy’s approved uniform suppliers.
- Plain navy tailored knee-length shorts – students may choose to wear plain navy tailored knee-length shorts instead of plain navy tailored trousers. These can be purchased made to order from Uniform Direct, from any other retailer, or created by altering plain navy tailored trousers. In all cases, they must meet the academy’s uniform requirements.
- Plain navy V-neck knitted sweater. This may be purchased from any retailer, provided it meets the academy’s uniform requirements.
Performing arts and PE kit
Compulsory items
Students require:
- Green and white Walton sports shirt
- Plain black skort / plain black shorts
- Plain black leggings/underlayer, where required for performing arts
- Sports trainers
- Football boots
- A suitable kit bag, clearly marked with the student’s name
With the exception of the green and white Walton sports shirt, these items may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet the academy’s requirements.
Optional items
- Plain black tracksuit trousers
- Plain black quarter-zip jumper/fleece
- Gum shield – optional but recommended
- Plain black leather ballet shoes or jazz shoes

Uniform expectations guidance
Students are expected to wear their uniform correctly and maintain a smart and presentable appearance throughout the academy day.
Mid-year admissions
For mid-year admissions, uniform requirements will depend on the year group the student is joining. Parents and carers should contact our Admissions Officer, Mrs Katie Croston, for advice on the appropriate uniform requirements before purchasing uniform. Please email kcroston@walton-ac.org.uk.

Walton Academy’s branded and specified uniform items are available from our three approved uniform suppliers:
The Walton-specific items available through our approved suppliers include:
- Walton blazer
- Walton green open-neck and collared shirts
- Walton striped tie
- Green and white Walton sports shirt
- Optional Walton skirt
Generic items, including plain navy tailored trousers and generic PE kit, do not need to be purchased from an academy uniform supplier. Families may purchase these from any retailer, provided they meet the specifications set out above.
Pre-loved uniform
We have a pre-loved uniform shop at Walton Academy offering a selection of nearly new uniform, including PE kit and other items.
We rely on the generosity of our academy community and are always grateful to receive donations of clean, good-quality uniform that students have outgrown or no longer need.
All proceeds from the pre-loved uniform shop are used for the benefit of Walton Academy students, and we aim to keep prices as low as possible.
As stock is dependent on donations, we cannot guarantee that every item or size will be available.
