It’s a much-loved tradition at Walton Academy that, on the final day of term before the Christmas holidays, staff come together to entertain students – and this year’s annual staff entertainment, delivered through a special video shared in form groups, certainly brought plenty of smiles.

With a Strictly theme, six teams took part representing English, modern foreign languages, design and technology, maths, PE and performing arts. Each team created their own dance routine, filmed especially for students to enjoy during form time.

The performances had it all – from inflatable suits and UV lighting to enthusiastic choreography and tongue-in-cheek moments. The soundtrack spanned generations, featuring Taylor Swift, festive Just Dance favourites and a 90s trance classic, ensuring the video was packed with energy and humour.

Adding to the sense of occasion, the performances were judged by a panel of former students and staff, representing the Walton Academy community over the past 20 years. The final decision, however, rested with the students, who voted for their favourite act after watching the video in their form groups.

The overall winners of this year’s staff entertainment were performing arts!!!!

The video was a fitting way to end the term, bringing a sense of fun, togetherness and tradition to the final day before students and staff headed off to enjoy a well-earned Christmas break.
