As part of National Careers Week, year 10 students from Walton Academy attended the South Kesteven District Council Skills Summit at The Meres in Grantham on Wednesday 4 March.

The event brought together students from secondary schools across the district alongside a wide range of local employers, training providers and education organisations. With more than 40 exhibitors present, the summit provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore future pathways and learn more about the opportunities available to them after year 11.

Throughout the morning, students had the chance to speak directly with employers, colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers, gaining insight into different industries and the skills required in today’s workplace. Organisations represented a diverse range of sectors, helping students begin to think more broadly about potential career options and the routes they may wish to pursue in the future.

The event encouraged students to reflect on their interests and ambitions, ask questions, and consider the steps they can take over the coming years as they begin to plan their next stages in education and employment. Experiences like this play an important role in helping young people develop their awareness of career opportunities and make more informed decisions about their future pathways.

Walton Academy would like to thank South Kesteven District Council and all the organisations involved for hosting such an informative and engaging event for students across the local area.

We look forward to seeing this event continue to grow from strength to strength, supporting even more young people as they explore their ambitions and begin planning their futures.
