Students at Walton Academy – part of Diverse Academies Trust – are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, marking the end of an important chapter and the beginning of an exciting new journey.

There was a real sense of pride and excitement as students opened their results, surrounded by teachers, families and friends who have supported them throughout their time at Walton Academy.

Today was a particularly special moment for Rithara, who celebrated achieving a grade 9, Distinction*, two grade 8s, two 7s, two 6s and a grade 5. Rithara will be continuing her studies at Walton post 16 and said: “I’m really happy with my results and so pleased that I can now go on to study the subjects I’ve chosen at Walton post 16. My teachers have given me so much support.”

With his sights firmly set on the future, Ismael is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results, including a grade 9, four 8s, two 7s and three 5s. He will now continue his education at Walton Post 16, where he will study maths, further maths, physics and chemistry. Ismael commented: “I’m really pleased and very happy with my results. It’s been stressful at times and I’ve worked hard but it was definitely worth it.”

Santana is celebrating after achieving a grade 9, three 8s, two 7s, two 6s and a grade 5. He said: “I did a lot better than I thought I would. I worked really hard, especially in science. I’ve applied to join the Royal Navy as an aerospace engineer and I’ve got my interview next week. I’m really excited about what comes next.”

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate for Artemy, who achieved three grade 9s, two 8s three 6s, a grade 4 and a pass. He was delighted with his results saying: “I’m surprised – they’re better than I expected. I’ve tried to be consistent and disciplined with my work this year, and that’s paid off. I’m staying at Walton for post 16 to study physics, maths, further maths and chemistry.”

Success for Mia means that she will be ready to continue her Level 3 studies at Walton post 16 this September. Mia achieved a grade 9, one 8, one 7, four 6s and a grade 5. She said: “I’m honestly so happy and a bit emotional. I’m staying at Walton for post 16, so it feels great to be able to carry on here for the next stage.”

Aidan was also celebrating after achieving a grade 9, a Distinction, a grade 8, three grade 7s and a grade 4. Reflecting on his results, Aidan said: “I’m really happy overall. I put a lot of effort into my revision, so it’s good to see that reflected in my results. I’m actually a bit shocked by how well I’ve done. The results mean I can take my next step and stay at Walton for post 16.”

Fabian was delighted to achieve five grade 8s, two 7s, two 6s, a grade 5 and a grade 4. He will now continue his studies at Walton post 16. Fabian said: “I was pretty shocked, to be honest. They weren’t the grades I was expecting and I did better than I thought, especially in geography and English. It’s a big relief to have the results now and know how I’ve done.”

Elise exceeded her expectations with an impressive set of results, including two grade 9s, a Distinction, three grade 7s, a grade 6 and two grade 5s. She will continue her studies at Walton post 16. Elise said: “I’m really proud of myself. I’ve exceeded my expectations and I definitely didn’t expect to get 9s in religious studies and English literature. I did as much as I possibly could to prepare beforehand, and I think that took some of the pressure off when I went into the exams because I knew I’d done everything I could.”

Josh achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results, with two grade 9s, five grade 8s and a grade 6. At just 16 years old, Josh also collected his A level results last week, achieving A*AA, and will now head to the University of York to study maths. He said: “I’m very satisfied. I had goals, I set out to achieve them, and I did. I think it’s important that if you set out to achieve something, you don’t listen to those who say you can’t. Believe in what you can achieve and keep working towards it.”

Reflecting on the results, Principal, Jess Leonard, said: “Today is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate everything our students have achieved. We are particularly pleased with the number of top grades achieved this year, including grade 9s and Distinction*, which are a fantastic reflection of our students’ hard work, commitment and determination.

“We are immensely proud of each and every one of our students and wish them every success as they take their next steps and begin an exciting new chapter.”
