Today, Walton Academy was delighted to welcome All Abroad! Bus, bringing our year 9 students an immersive and unforgettable experience that transformed the classroom into the vibrant markets of France and Spain.
Throughout the day, groups of students were virtually transported to Dieppe’s bustling Saturday market and a lively Spanish food market using innovative 360° virtual reality (VR) technology. These interactive experiences allowed students to explore colourful market stalls, meet animated vendors, and experience the sights and sounds of French and Spanish culture.
This unique activity has given students an exciting opportunity to practise their French and Spanish language skills by role-playing as buyers and sellers, building confidence in using key phrases in interactive scenarios. They’ve also explored aspects of French and Spanish culture through hands-on activities, such as engaging with market displays and sampling produce.
At Walton Academy, we are passionate about creating engaging and meaningful learning opportunities that broaden students’ understanding of other cultures. Today’s activities have provided a fresh and innovative way to inspire curiosity about language learning and bring a taste of international markets to our students.
We’ve been delighted by the enthusiasm of our students as they engaged with this new experience, and we extend our thanks to All Abroad! Bus for their creativity and effort in delivering such an engaging and inspiring day.
