Walton Academy is considering a proposed change to its school term dates from September 2026. As part of our commitment to working in partnership with our local and academy community, we are now launching a formal consultation process to gather your views before any final decisions are made.

What is being proposed?

Currently, our term dates align with Nottinghamshire County Councils’ calendar, as Walton Academy is part of Diverse Academies Trust. However, we recognise that this arrangement can be challenging for many families and staff members. We are therefore considering a change to align our term dates with those followed by Lincolnshire schools, beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Term dates 2026-2027 proposal

Why are we considering this change?

This proposal has been shaped by feedback from families, staff, and local partners. Key reasons for the change include:

  • Supporting families with children attending schools across the local area.
  • Creating greater equity across schools in our wider community.
  • Improving alignment with local services such as school transport.
  • Responding directly to input from our academy community.
  • Helping our staff manage their childcare responsibilities more easily.

We believe that aligning our term dates with Lincolnshire could bring significant benefits to both families and staff, but your input is vital to help us make an informed decision.

How can you have your say?

We are inviting all parents, carers, staff, and community partners to share their feedback as part of this consultation. Please send your comments or concerns by email to: consultation@walton-ac.org.uk

The consultation will remain open until Monday 30 June 2025. after which we will review all feedback and share our next steps with the community.
