Charles Read Academy 1 – Walton Academy 5
On Thursday 2 May 2024, Walton Academy’s year 7 and year 8 girls football team achieved a commanding away victory over Charles Read Academy. The match was a showcase of talent, teamwork, and remarkable individual performances.
The game kicked off with both teams displaying great energy, but it was Walton Academy who quickly asserted their dominance. The Charles Read Academy goalkeeper made several outstanding saves early on to keep the scoreline at 0-0. However, Walton’s persistent pressure paid off when Jorgia broke the deadlock, setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Jorgia was unstoppable in the first half, completing a superb hat-trick that saw Walton take a comfortable 3-0 lead into halftime. Her clinical finishing and relentless attacking play were highlights of the game.
In the second half, Walton Academy continued their dominance. Iman added a fourth goal, further extending the lead. Despite the scoreline, Charles Read Academy demonstrated their fighting spirit and managed to score an extraordinary goal from just inside the Walton half, bringing the score to 4-1 with only a few minutes left.
India then sealed the victory for Walton with a well-taken goal, making the final score 5-1. The match was played in great spirit by both teams, showcasing excellent sportsmanship and competitive play.
Special mention goes to Isabelle and Daisy for their rock-solid defensive performance, which was instrumental in maintaining Walton’s lead. While the entire team performed admirably, the player of the match was undoubtedly Jorgia, whose wonderful hat-trick set the stage for a memorable win.
