On the Thursday 9 June, eight students represented South Kesteven at the Lincolnshire Schools County Athletics Event, competing against the top athletes in the county. These students had been selected based on their successful performances at the district event, held two weeks earlier.
Mia B in year 8, was the stand out performer of the day- she ran incredibly well in her heat and made it to the final of the junior girls 100m, where she came 5th overall. She was also part of the winning 4 x 100m relay team. Georgia R ran superbly in the inter girls 800m race, finishing 5th in the county. Riley B competed well in a strong field of inter boys, in the long jump event, he finished in the top 6. Freddi P (inter boys) and Ayanda N (year 7 girls) also finished 7th in their shot put categories, a great achievement! Tia-Louise R (inter girls) ran a fantastic leg of the 4 x 100m, to gain 2nd place in the event for her team.
We are all very proud of our students and their achievements this year in athletics and we can’t wait for next summer’s events already!
