At Walton Academy, we are proud to be more than just a school — we are a community where every individual is supported to nurture their talents, focus their interests, and prepare for a successful future — we are Walton.
This autumn, we are inviting families of children currently in year 6 to join us for one of our talk and tour events.
These events offer an opportunity to meet our Principal, Ms Jess Leonard, and explore Walton Academy during a normal school day, helping families considering their secondary school options for September 2027 get a feel for life at Walton.
We are also hosting our annual post 16 open evening on Thursday 15 October. This is for current year 11 students looking at their post 16 options to study A level and BTEC courses. We warmly invite current Walton students and students from other schools to come and find out about our exciting sixth form offer.
Upcoming dates:
Talk and tour
Our talk and tours are not like the usual school open day. We run these events during our normal school day so families can really see and feel what it means to be a Walton student. You’ll be given a guided tour of our dedicated faculty buildings including our STEM block and our Walton Theatre.
You’ll have the opportunity to see lessons in action, gain an insight into our approach to teaching and learning, and experience the welcoming atmosphere of Walton Academy during a normal school day.
This event is catered to families who were unable to attend our open evening in June, as well as families who did attend and would like to see our school in action.
Post 16 open evening
Walton Post 16 is the perfect option for students who are looking for small class sizes with expert teaching and futures guidance. We have a dedicated post 16 centre for sixth form students away from our main academy buildings. We offer exciting one-of-a-kind enrichment opportunities including our links with ATACC (anaesthesia, trauma and critical care), and provide dedicated support for students looking to progress to Russell Group universities.
We strongly encourage all students considering their next steps after year 11 to come along to our open evening to experience Walton Post 16 for themselves.
Why Walton Academy?
More and more families in Grantham and from surrounding areas are making Walton Academy their first choice school for secondary education. We have been educating children for 60 years and have a rich history of academic, pastoral and vocational success.
From year 7 all the way through to sixth form in our post 16, Walton Academy is a desirable place to learn and grow. At Walton Academy we empower, we respect and we care.
Walton Academy is accessible via our school bus routes and public transport. Information on our school buses is available on our website.
If you are finding the talk and tour events are listed as full, give us a call on 01476 563251 or email enquiries@walton-ac.org.uk where we will be able to manage your booking.
