Walton Academy 5 – Charles Read Academy 1

On Thursday 10 October, Walton Academy’s year 9 football team secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Charles Read Academy in a thrilling home match.

Walton started the game brightly, though the team looked a bit disjointed at times. However, with Kyle F and Zack S stepping up to lead from the back, the team quickly found their rhythm. Walton’s efforts were soon rewarded when Daniel scored on the break, putting them 1-0 up.

Ten minutes before half-time, a ball over the top led to a missed clearance, allowing the Charles Read midfielder to slot in their striker for the equaliser.

After a brief half-time discussion about positional discipline and leadership, a few changes were made on the pitch, with Oliver S and Toby B swapping positions between striker and goalkeeper.

Walton came out strong in the second half, dominating the field and keeping Charles Read pinned in their own half. Keen to capitalise on the pressure, Lyric C whipped in a fantastic corner that found Daniel’s head for his second goal of the match.

The momentum continued, and in the next 15 minutes, Walton netted a flurry of goals from Lyric C, Oliver S, and William F. It was a controlled and solid second-half performance, with Walton Academy fully deserving their 5-1 victory over Charles Read Academy.

Daniel’s outstanding performance, including his two goals, earned him the title of Player of the Match, showcasing his crucial role in the team’s success.

A special mention goes to Taylor R and Jacob L for serving as linesmen during the game.

Walton Academy would also like to commend Charles Read Academy for their sportsmanship and determination throughout the match. They played valiantly and contributed to an entertaining contest.

Congratulations to the entire Walton Academy team for their impressive achievement!
