Walton Academy’s football teams demonstrated their prowess on the pitch, securing victories across both year 8 and year 9 fixtures against Charles Read Academy.

Year 9 Victory: Charles Read Academy 0 – Walton Academy 2

On Thursday 22 February, Walton Academy’s year 9 team continued their impressive form with a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Charles Read Academy. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the visitors wasted no time in asserting their dominance.

Elijah set the tone early with a stunning goal within the first minute of the match. However, Charles Read responded valiantly, putting Walton’s defence under pressure. Josh, Harry, Olly, and Aiden showcased their defensive prowess, blocking numerous attempts on goal.

The match remained tightly contested throughout, with Walton’s midfield duo of Max and Aidan orchestrating several promising attacks. Despite their best efforts, Walton struggled to extend their lead until a moment of brilliance saw Aidan carve through the Charles Read defence to slot home Walton’s second goal.

Josh Christian’s commanding performance at the back earned him the Man of the Match accolade, as he proved to be an immovable force in Walton’s defensive line.

Year 8 Dominance: Charles Read Academy 1 – Walton Academy 5

On Tuesday 27 February, in a display of skill and teamwork, Walton Academy’s year 8 football team asserted their dominance in a 5-1 victory over Charles Read Academy. Despite facing chilly conditions, the boys from Walton ensured they were primed for success with a comprehensive warm-up routine.

The match kicked off with a bang as Daniel unleashed an unstoppable rocket into the top corner, leaving the Charles Read goalkeeper grasping at thin air. Brian soon followed suit with a long-range effort that found its way past the keeper, doubling Walton’s lead.

The defensive quartet of Darius, Lewis, Jamie, and Oliver remained steadfast, thwarting Charles Read’s attempts to claw their way back into the game. Meanwhile, Lyric capitalised on Walton’s momentum, netting two more goals before halftime.

Although Charles Read managed to break through Walton’s defence early in the second half, courtesy of a well-worked goal, Walton remained resolute. Brian put the game to bed with his second goal late in the match, sealing a convincing 5-1 win for Walton Academy.

Daniel’s stellar performance earned him the title of Player of the Match, with his wonder goal setting the tone for Walton’s triumph.
