We are delighted to announce that several members of the Walton Academy teaching community have been recognised by the judging panel of the 2023 Pearson National Teaching Awards.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards were set up to celebrate the invaluable impact of education within the UK. Run by the Teaching Awards Trust and supported by Pearson and the BBC, they are the UK’s most prestigious celebration of transformational teaching and have been described as ‘the Oscars of the teaching profession!’
Members of the Walton Academy leadership team and colleagues were asked to nominate fellow teachers and teaching assistants for a variety of awards and we were over the moon to receive confirmation of the following awards:
- Certificates of Excellence in the Teacher of the Year category: Miss Hopkins, Mr Taxis and Mrs Thomas-Wright
- Certificate of Excellence in the Outstanding New Teacher of the Year (Secondary) category: Miss Edwards
- Certificate of Excellence in the Teaching Assistant of the Year category: Mrs Burton
- Certificates of Excellence in the Lifetime Achievement category: Mrs Spowage and Mrs Twilley
Finally, we would like to pass on our congratulations to Mrs Bingham and Mrs Butcher for receiving Highly Commended certificates for the excellent contribution to Special Needs Education, what a fantastic achievement!
A huge well done from the whole Walton Academy to everyone whose contribution has been recognised by the panel of the 2023 awards. We are so proud of you, and thrilled that your skills and dedication have been recognised in this way.
