Students across Walton Academy have been looking ahead to the future during this year’s Next Steps Week, taking part in a range of activities designed to build confidence, develop key life skills and prepare them for the next stage of their education.
Throughout the week, students stepped away from their usual timetable to take part in sessions focused on personal development, careers education, study skills and wellbeing, with each year group following a programme tailored to their stage of learning.
Throughout the week, students benefited from the support of employers and industry professionals who shared their knowledge, experiences and career journeys. Sessions delivered by organisations including Equans, Siemens Energy, Vaculug, Social Dragonfly, Ask Mortgages, Crimson Kings Tree Service and South Kesteven District Council gave students valuable insight into sectors ranging from engineering and sustainability to digital marketing, finance and the public sector, helping them to better understand the opportunities available to them in the future.
Alongside these employer-led experiences, students challenged themselves to think differently, reflect on their ambitions and develop the confidence, resilience and skills needed to take their next steps, whether in education, training or future employment.
Whether settling into secondary school, preparing for GCSE study, reflecting on recent mock examinations or exploring future education and career pathways, every student had the opportunity to develop the knowledge and confidence needed for the next step in their journey.
Next Steps Week is an important part of Walton Academy’s personal development curriculum, ensuring students are not only successful in the classroom but are also equipped with the skills, experiences and aspirations to thrive beyond school.
A huge thank you to all of our staff and external partners who helped deliver another successful programme, and well done to our students for embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity.
