Walton Academy’s table tennis team made an excellent start to the year this week, hosting Charles Read Academy in a friendly fixture that showcased focus, resilience and sportsmanship from start to finish.
The match featured six Walton students from years 8, 9 and 10, all of whom approached the fixture with confidence and determination. From the opening serve, Walton demonstrated strong concentration and consistency, drawing on the skills developed during their Wednesday and Thursday extracurricular table tennis sessions.
Across a series of competitive and closely fought sets, the Walton players held their nerve showing composure under pressure and a clear understanding of match play. Their ability to remain focused throughout the fixture ensured Walton finished the afternoon unbeaten.
Charles Read Academy provided excellent opposition and contributed to a high-quality and enjoyable fixture. The academy would like to thank them for the positive spirit and sportsmanship shown throughout the match.
