On Wednesday 16 July, Walton Academy hosted its eagerly awaited sports day – a highlight of the school calendar and a true celebration of athletic talent, determination and house pride.
The competition saw students from Burghley, Belvoir, Belton, and Irnham take to the field in a packed day of events. The morning began with field competitions including shot put, discus, javelin and long jump, where students showed strength, precision and focus.
The afternoon brought a burst of energy with the track events – from the fast-paced 100m and 200m sprints to the more grueling 800m and thrilling relay races. Cheers echoed across the field as students gave it their all and their houses rallied behind them.
The atmosphere was lifted by the support of staff, students, and families, who encouraged the athletes and enjoyed the day’s events together. A light-hearted addition to the afternoon – a staff relay race featuring a few surprise guests – brought smiles and laughter from the crowd.
After an action-packed day of friendly rivalry, we are excited to reveal this year’s final results:
1st Place – Belton House
2nd Place – Burghley House
3rd Place – Belvoir House
4th Place – Irnham House
Belton House claimed the top spot with an impressive all-round performance in both track and field events. Burghley House pushed hard and secured a well-earned second place, while Belvoir and Irnham followed close behind with fantastic displays of effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Walton Academy would like to congratulate all students for their incredible commitment and competitive spirit. The lead-up to sports day saw many students training hard and encouraging one another – a true testament to our values of collaboration and resilience.
A huge thank you goes to Miss Sandell and the PE department for their exceptional organisation and dedication. Your efforts ensured the day ran smoothly and was one to remember for everyone involved.
