Today, Walton Academy’s year 7 students are participating in a stay safe day, an initiative delivered by Lincolnshire County Council’s Stay Safe Partnership. This initiative is designed to provide young people with the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe and navigate the world around them confidently.

The Stay Safe Partnership is a collaboration of various organisations and voluntary agencies, all focused on prevention education. At Walton Academy, the partnership is delivering a series of age-appropriate workshops that offer valuable insights into staying safe in a variety of contexts.

Key topics

During Stay Safe Day, year 7 students are taking part in interactive workshops and activities covering essential topics such as:

  • Online safety: Equipping students with the tools to navigate the digital world safely and securely.
  • Healthy relationships: Learning the foundations of respectful and supportive relationships.
  • Road safety: Teaching students essential skills and knowledge for staying safe on the roads.
  • Anti-social behaviour and gang recruitment: Raising awareness of antisocial behaviour and the potential risks of gang recruitment, helping students recognise and avoid these dangers.

Spotlight on personal safety

Personal safety is a central theme for year 7 students, especially as they adjust to new environments and greater independence. The workshops are carefully designed to help students build their confidence and equip them with practical tools to stay safe, whether at school, in the community, or online.

Supporting the school community

At Walton Academy, our priority is to create a safe, nurturing environment where students can thrive. The Lincolnshire County Council’s Stay Safe Partnership plays a key role in supporting this vision by addressing a range of important safety topics. By engaging students in meaningful discussions, stay safe partnership day encourages them to develop resilience, make informed decisions, and feel empowered to take control of their personal safety.
