Walton Academy students have embarked on an exciting journey to the Andalusia region of Spain, situated in the southern part of the country. Yesterday marked the beginning of their Spanish adventure as they arrived at the Natursun Hotel in Torremolinos, nestled just a stone’s throw away from the picturesque La Carihuela beach.

This morning, the students started their day with a hearty continental breakfast at the hotel, preparing themselves for an enriching exploration of Cordoba’s historical landmarks. Setting out from the hotel, they embarked on a guided tour, admiring the architectural wonders of the Mezquita of Cordoba and the grandeur of the Royal Alcazar. Under the guidance of knowledgeable tour guides, they delved into the history and culture of this ancient city, gaining invaluable insights into Spain’s rich heritage.

As the day unfolds, the students will continue their exploration of Cordoba. From the bustling streets to the tranquil courtyards, every corner of Cordoba offers a glimpse into its illustrious past and dynamic present.

With Seville and Granada awaiting their visit, the students are poised for more unforgettable experiences as they journey through Spain. This visit to the Andalusia region serves as a tangible link to their studies back home, seamlessly integrating with their Key Stage 3 Spanish curriculum. Beyond the classroom, students engage with the language and culture in authentic settings. These experiences not only deepen their understanding of Spanish history and heritage but also enrich their language skills through practical application and cultural immersion. From Cordoba to Seville and Granada, every destination offers a unique opportunity for students to bring their classroom learning to life, fostering a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language and culture.

Special thanks to the dedicated staff accompanying the students – Miss Edwards, Mrs Dolby, Miss Lucas, and Mr Birchenough – whose guidance and support ensure a safe and enriching experience for all.

As Walton Academy’s Spanish adventure unfolds, there are more memories to be made and discoveries yet to be uncovered.
