Students at Walton took part in another successful Life Skills and Choices Day on Thursday, 7 February, with a number of external visitors providing expert advice on a range of topics, including Nat West, Bishop Grosseteste University and the Workpays Apprenticeship team.

Year 7’s had the opportunity to learn some essential skills around team work in the business world and skills that pay the bills, while Year 8 students had focused sessions around those all important GCSE options, with taster sessions in a variety of subjects, including a careers session.

Year 9 students were involved in a wide range of sessions covering citizenship, financial awareness and careers advice, such as mock interviews and futures workshops.

For Year 10 and 11 students, the day was very much about planning for the future with apprenticeship research and workshops for writing application letters, preparing for job interviews and perfecting their CVs.

Walton’s Life Skills Days cover a number of careers and personal development topics to prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
