Students at Walton Academy enjoyed a dynamic and thought-provoking event led by performer Joel Foster in the Walton Theatre. Blending live music with meaningful discussion, the session offered a fresh and engaging take on personal, social, health, and economic (PSHE) education. Organised by The Prime Agency, the event encouraged students to connect with important topics in a way that was both relatable and impactful.

Year groups 7 to 11 each took part in their own dedicated session, where Joel performed a mix of his own songs and well-known tracks. More than just a musical performance, the session was a powerful discussion on mental health and wellbeing. Joel shared his own experiences from secondary school, making his message relatable and engaging for students. Using live music as a tool to engage young people in meaningful conversations, the session ensured that students not only listened but also connected deeply with the messages being shared.

Throughout his talk, he addressed key issues such as school stress, relationships, and the importance of speaking up about mental health. He also covered essential topics including bullying, stress management, and healthy relationships, all while promoting values of respect, diversity, and tolerance.

Students responded positively to the session, fully engaged in both the music and the message. The combination of live performance and real-life storytelling created an atmosphere that was both entertaining and thought-provoking, reinforcing the importance of looking after mental health and supporting one another.

Walton Academy is proud to provide opportunities like this for our students, encouraging open conversations about mental health and personal wellbeing. This event was a fantastic reminder of the power of music and storytelling in education, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who attended.
