Walton were excited to welcome dentist Claire Simpson BChD and dental nurse Stacey Beardsley to the academy on Monday 21 March 2022. They met year 9, year 11 and post 16 students and gave them a very interesting and detailed insight into their profession.

They explained the many different careers within their practice and in the NHS which included:  dental radiography, oral health educators, dental sedation and orthodontics.

Students said it helped them to:

“understand different routes to jobs”

“understand how apprenticeships in dentistry work”

“ understand what GCSEs and A Levels they had to take to be where they are, as this gave me an idea of what I would need to do if I was to go into dentistry.”

Mrs Etherington, Careers Leader said “we were delighted to welcome Claire and Stacey to Walton. Hearing from current professionals gives students a real life experience – something we are keen to offer to every Walton student. This connection with a local employer will help them see the opportunities for their own career pathways. We really appreciate the time given by Claire and Stacey to support our Careers programme.”
