On Wednesday 17 July, Walton Academy hosted its highly anticipated sports day, an event marked by fierce competition and vibrant house spirit. The house competition saw students from Burghley, Belvoir, Belton, and Irnham compete in a variety of field and track events.
The day began with field events in the morning, where students competed in shot put, discus, javelin, and long jump. As the afternoon unfolded, the excitement shifted to the track events, featuring intense competitions in the 100m, 200m, 800m, and relay races. The entire Walton Academy community, including students, staff, and families, gathered to cheer on the athletes.
The sports day was a showcase of talent and determination. The friendly rivalry between the houses added to the excitement, with each house vying for top honours in every event.
After an intense day of competition last Wednesday, we’re excited to share the results today:
1st Place – Belvoir House
2nd Place – Belton House
3rd Place – Irnham House
4th Place – Burghley House
Belvoir House emerged as the overall winner, thanks to consistent high performances across both field and track events. Belton House put up a strong fight, securing second place with several notable victories. Irnham House and Burghley House also demonstrated commendable effort and sportsmanship.
Belvoir House emerged as the overall winner, thanks to consistent high performances across both field and track events, finishing with an impressive 755 points. It was a close contest between Irnham House and Belton House, with Belton House securing second place with 689 points and Irnham House finishing third with 686 points. Burghley House also demonstrated commendable effort and sportsmanship, concluding the competition with 627 points.
